Starrett-Lehigh is among one of the best known hyphenates in Manhattan real estate. It achieved landmark status in 1986, and has been a cherished home to New York’s creative community for decades. A legendary place for photographers, artists, start-ups, and out-of-the-box businesses to hang their shingle, Starrett-Lehigh is the highly desired address for free-spirited, downtown-minded makers and doers.
The purpose of the refresh was to announce the new retail and event spaces on the street-level and establish Starrett-Lehigh as a destination. The hyphen in Starrett-Lehigh was replaced with the current brandmark and employed as a glyph that will variously stand for “and,” “plus,” “with,” or “equals.” The system was designed to connect what’s inside with what’s outside, and everything in between through advertising, signage, media, and sales and leasing collateral.
